DP2 Challenge #9

 

This is my entry for the 9th Bella & Bronte Challenge.  We had to use traditional Christmas colors (red, green, silver, gold, blue and a color of my choice) and make a card for a “special someone.”

I decided to use one of my favorite images from Mo – her angel.  I love this angel and love to color her.  I made this special card for friend who could use some peace in her life, especially around the Holiday Season. 

The paper is from a paper pack from Michaels.  I accidentally tore the edge of the paper and so instead of starting over with a new piece, I got creative and tore the other piece of paper to match.  I believe the colors worked well together with the added touch of green.  I finished the card off with a little dove charm (colored with stickles) just above the computer generated message of peace.

DP2: Challenge 7

 

Here’s my entry for Bella & Bronte’s 7th Challenge.  This challenge required that we use (2) Ribbons, (3) papers, and a decorative edge.  I decided to use Mo’s deliciously divine little “Sugar” elf.  He’s so adorable and I LOVED coloring him using Copics.  I used two different versions of candy cane paper as well as Marco’s beautiful deep red paper for the top note.  I added candy cane ribbon from Michael’s (dollar bin!!) and light green ribbon.  I also added a little charm that say’s, “Season Greetings.”

The decorative edge is Martha Stewart’s star punch.  I haven’t received my candy cane punch yet so I couldn’t use it. :-(

Oh well, I think that this card turned out well and it will go towards my card swap at work with my cropper group.

City of Auburn Hills Craft Show

Greetings all!  Today I had a table at my first craft show.  I have to admit I was nervous.  I make cards and people tell me how creative I am, but I don't see it sometimes.  However, today I realized that I may very well have some talent. *smile*

I had two gentlemen stop at my table and purchase cards from me.  Not women...but men.  The first gentleman was so enthusiastic about a card I did years ago when I was in my "sewing on cards" phase.  He picked the card up and put it down twice before stating, "I just have to get this card."  He purchased that card as well as another card.  His reaction to my cards made me feel even more passionate about making cards.  The other gentleman came to my table with his wife and he spotted a card that had two bears "just married" on it.  He too picked up the card up and then put it down.  He eventually walked away without buying the card.  I was use to this because everyone seemed to being doing this all day. However, he came back as I was contemplating packing up and calling it a day.  He asked if he could purchase that card and would I put it in a bag for him.  I did.  I believe that his wife will eventually be the proud recipient of that card.

Today, I learned that although some people may not like what I create...I have talent.
Today, I learned that friends are priceless...simply priceless.
Today, I learned that God works in mysterious ways (okay, I knew this but he reaffirmed it for me today.)

I will post pics of some of the things I sold today (JuliAnne the ornaments) later.  I am wiped out.

November 7th Card Class

I taught a card class entitled “Exploring the Punchabilities.”

Students used several different punches to create reindeers, snowmen, ornaments and a lot more.

Bella & Bronte Challenge

All I want for Christmas is…CANDY!

I imagine that Bella & Bronte would love to have stockings filled with candy.

 

I purchased this image a while ago, but hadn’t done anything with it.  The paper is this really cool double-sided paper I picked up at Michael’s.  It has these really funky stockings on one side and the names of different kinds of candy on the other side.  I added the candy ribbon to tie everything together.

I hope you enjoy viewing it as much as I enjoyed creating it.

Bella & Bronte’s DP Challenge 4

For this challenge I decided to do a Z-fold.  I used CTMH double-sided paper, ribbon and distressing ink to create a Christmas card that was not the traditional red, green and white.  I think Mo’s Christmas puppy is so cute.  I look forward to using him in other projects.  The stamp is from Stampin’ Up and it has a cute curly punch that goes with it.

November 7, 2009 Card Class

Want to get a jumpstart on your holiday cardmaking? Well, then you don’t want to miss this class. We will make 4 cards and a cardholder. DP3 Challenge

Hello everyone!  I am posting my 3rd Bella & Bronte challenge entry.  I decided to use Mo’s Kai image to make seasonal calendar.

Here's the finished product.  A desk organizer!

I wanted a calendar to use in my home office and decided to create my own using these cute images.  After looking through my HUGE collection of Mo images, I discovered that the Kai images were by season.  I don't know if Mo did that on intentionally, but it worked for me and for this challenge. The best way to view it is to click on the link above then click on slide show.  I apologize that some of the pictures may be fuzzy.  I have a new camera and I'm trying to figure out how to work it.  Anyways, thanks to Mo's DTs for their wonderful comments and for the challenges.  I look forward to next Thursday's challenge.

Sorry I haven’t been posting on a regular basis, but grad school classes have me pretty busy.  I just finished one class and will start another next Friday.  Aarrghh!! 

SAVE THE DATE!!!  I wanted to let you know that I have another card class coming up on November 7th.  We will make some really cool Christmas cards and learn how to use Copic markers.  I will post more details later along with pictures of some of the cards we will make.

Here’s one card that I did for my friend Brenda to give to her sister.  The digi stamp of the dog is actually another Mo image that she created for the winner of the “purple” card challenge.

DP2 Challenge

This is the card I created for Bella & Bronte’s “perple” card challenge.  I  LOVE purple too (hence the blog name).

I know that I have been posting a lot of pictures using Digital Stamps or digis and I wanted to take a moment to explain what they are and how they work.  Digis are illustrations by artist (like Mo or Dustin) and in my personal opinion they allow for more creativity than traditional rubber stamps (which I still love). 

Digis are easy to use.  Once you have purchased the digi stamp that you like, you can color them using a variety of different mediums, such as Copic markers, CTMH markers or even crayons.  If you want to see some beautiful creations using digis,check out www.papercraftplanet.com and go to Mo’s Digi group.  The ladies that are apart of that group really create some awesome cards using digis.  This isn’t to say I don’t, but they are my inspiration.

You can save your digis on your computer and use them over and over again.  They are very easy to store,  which is another benefit compared to rubber stamps.  Another benefit is the versatility of digis, which you can see by looking through my gallery.  Again, I still love my rubber stamps and actually a lot of artist that started out creating just digis are now creating rubber stamps, so it’s all about your preference.

Greeting Crafty Cardmakers

I apologize for not updating sooner; however, my computer died and I just got a new one. I believe that I will update my blog every Saturday (to start out). I am working on some new designs that I would love to get your feedback on.

"Know when to Fold'em" Card Class

Today I taught a card class at Oakland Community College's Auburn Hills campus. Thank you to Ms. Marilyn, Ms. Olivia, Michelle,Brenda D., Alicia, Brenda and Fran for joining me today. I will post your beautiful cards later.

I taught the ladies how to make 4 gorgeous cards that involved fancy folds. We made the "Diagonal Double Pocket" card, "Pyramid" card, "Wiper" Card and as a bonus I taught them the basics of the "Tri-Shutter" card with a twist. I hope that they enjoyed making the cards, because I enjoyed teaching them.

Remember, my next class will be the end October or beginning of November. I will send out an email to let you know the details.

Welcome

Greetings Everyone! I have finally put my blog together. It is is still a work in progress, but I think it is coming along well. I will post lots of pictures and toots (tutorials). I hope that you aren't too overwhelm by the beautiful color purple and will continue to check back often to see what the Purple Card Lady is up to.

The title of my blog came from several different sources. First, was my love (okay obsession) with all things purple. Second, is my love (definitely obsession) with creating cards and third was after I met Sue Nelson from http://www.heartprints.net/ at the Rubber Stamp Convention in August (Thanks Sue!).
