ADFD New Release - Vintage Hats

Greetings!

Another big THANKS to everyone who joined us for the first evah ADFD blog hop!!  We had a blast sharing our creations with you and making new friends.  We are continuing with the vintage look by showcasing some beautiful vintage hats.  I strongly believe that not everyone can wear a hat.  I think it takes a special head to pull that look off.  I have such a big head that I don't wear hats. lol

Well, I am pleased as punch to share with you my creation using one of the hat images.  The entire collection is simply gorgeous.  I will be playing with these some more.  I have an idea for a few of them, but need to find some creative time. :-D

You can snag this beauty and so many others from Tammy's ADFD Esty Store.  I believe I mentioned before that "vintage" scares me becuase it isn't my stronger suite.  However, I must say that I have enjoyed trying to figure out how to put my own stamp on this technique.  I recieved some help this time when I found this AWESOME site (http://farfarhill.blogspot.com/p/vintage-freebies.html) that has these gorgeous papers for free (just leave some love and tell her Candy sent you).

Well, I should get started since you have a lot of hopping to do and a lot of wonderful creations to view.  This is the first stop on the hop so welcome!  The hop will begin today and end February 24, 2011.  Below you will find the links to the other talented members of the ADFD Design Team.  Prepare yourself to be "wowed" by their talent and make sure to leave lots of love. :-D

ADFD (all done!)

Here's my creation using the vintage dress from the Very Vintage new release images.

I paper pieced the dress and used warm and dark browns to give it a vintage or antique look.  Here's a tip that I will share with you.  The designer paper (with the corsets, shoes, purses on it) is actually an advertisement from online that I used as dp.  Sometimes, I can't find that perfect dp in the store (or my stash) so I get creative and look in the not so obvious places.  I love how this card turned out and I hope you do too.  Thanks for visiting me and now you'll hop over to the lady with nine lives...CAT!  She has a gorgeous piece of art to share with you.

Strength from God

Greetings!

Today I am sharing a card I made for a neighbor who is going through some really rough times.  In December (before Christmas) his father died and just last week his brother passed away.  I am one who believes that God equips us with the strength to handle whatever comes our way (even if it doesn't feel that way).

I created this card for him to hopefully encourage him to hang in there.  You never know what one small act of kindness will do for a person.  It is always difficult for me to make a masculine card, because I have to fight the urge to add ribbons or flowers on it.

I chose Mo's Fishing image, because he and his father always loved to take their boat out on the lake.

They're introducing our newest movie characters to the bunch!  So today is a little different you don't just hop in order it's a little trivia game you start with a movie trivia question and you select the answer the answer will take you to a DT members blog where you will find the next movie trivia question and you select your next answer and so on and so forth until you reach the city of oz (the end).  Just click on the link above to get started.

Okay, switching gears...I am so stoked to announce that I have completed my Thesis paper and recieved an A!  Those of you that know me...know that I am finishing up grad school and my thesis paper has been a huge part of accomplishing this goal.  Well, I can check this off my list and I have two classes to complete in order to graduate.  I will be so glad to have this degree completed so that I can get back to creating, but just as important...figure out what I am going to be when I grow up.

ADFD New Release Friday - "Sweet Boy"

Greetings!

T.G.I.F!!  Finally Friday has arrived and that means that it is new release time over at "A Day for Daisies."  Today love is in the air...especially since Monday is Valentine Day!!  I have for years now always bought my mother gifts on Valentine and Sweetest Day.  She is truly the love of my life.  :-D  I think that bond between mother and child is the most precious, priceless commodity around.  I encourage you to step outside of your usually Valentine Day ritual of giving gifts to your sweetheart and give to someone who would be totally appreciative (not to say that your sweetheart wouldn't be) and surprised by your gift. :-D

Okay, enough chatter about that...here's my new release creation using the oh so so "sweet boy" from ADFD.

I love the way this card turned out and immediately when I saw the image I knew it had to be in a heart.  I didn't take a picture of the inside of the card, but I wrote the following sentiment...

"Love at first sight happens when a baby is born."

I truly believe this is really what love at first sight is all about.  It is that moment when you meet a stranger and you can't take your eyes off them.  They consume your every thought and all you want to do breath them in. (This coming from a woman who has no children.)  I truly think that the relationship a parent has with their child is...well words can't describe it...it's like the relationship we should have with God.

Well, I hope that you enjoy these images as much as I do.  You can head over to the store and snag them today.  Oh, don't forget that you can also pick the $2.00 deal which is this adorable image below.

Challenge #11 @ ADFD: "Heavy Metal Rocks" Challenge & New Release

Greetings!

Spring is in the air...well at least at A Day for Daisies!  I have some adorable creations to share with you using the fantastic images that Tammy has created for us to play with this week.  This week we are paying tribute to some serious heavy metal over at ADFD by using metallic aspects in our cards for this week's challenge.  The challenge runs from February 4th-17th and so head over to the challenge blog and submit your entry to win an awesome image.  I chose to keep with the Spring theme of the new release images and used some serious heavy metal cardstock on my flower pot creation.

This case can hold anything; however, it has seeds inside the inner pocket. I used the cute strawberry flower part that is the new release image to create a pull out card which has instructions on when/how to plant the seeds.  I think this would make a cute gift for the gardener in your life.  Since I have an awful non-green thumb, I would never attempt to plant anything. ;-D

To create my next card I used the adorable new release "Mushroom Gnome."  This cutie reminded me of the traveling gnome from the Travelocity commercials so i was thrilled to work with him.  I also added the "fairy mushrooms" from last release, because they went along with him so well.  My initial creation didn't come to fruition, because my supplies didn't arrive on time; therefore, I ended up with this card.  I like it (especially the cloud paper), but I still have my original idea stuck in my head which I will have to create at some point.

Well, I hope you have been inspired by my creations and that you will participate in our "Heavy Metal Rocks" challenge this week.  Congrats to last week's winner!!  Also, don't forget to snag any of these awesome new releases and the $2 deal of the day is a beatiful boquet of roses!  This would be perfect for those Valentine Day cards. :-D
